Our Chapter has done an outstanding job of making a difference in the community through many different efforts.  We would like to thank everyone who has participated and highlight some of the great work we've accomplished together.

Here are just a few examples of our outreach efforts:

bulletWe purchased $1,500 worth of food and other supplies for four area food pantries serving 425 families in McHenry County. Proceeds from our Fall and Spring KidStuff Resales provide these funds.

bulletTogether with our children, we made care packages for our troops in Iraq. Items included books, magazines, snacks, personal care and Beanie Babies (for our soldiers to give to the Iraqi children). Also, we included notes and our children drew colorful pictures.

bulletHalf of the proceeds or our 2004 Spring Fashion Show were used to purchase much needed supplies for Pioneer House of McHenry County. Purchased items, which will be used for group homes, included vacuums, a microwave, bedding, linens, towels, toasters, dishes, kitchenware, glasses, flatware, gift cards and a DVD player. A big thank you to these Crystal Lake retailers for their assistance and generosity: Sears, Linens & Things, and Target.

bulletWe donated half of the proceeds of our 2003 Spring Fashion Show to Family Health Partnership, serving uninsured and underinsured families in McHenry county; half of our 2002 Fashion Show proceeds benefited Turning Point, aiding women and children in abusive situations.

bulletOur collection for foster children helped to ensure that one gift was given to each foster child in the county over the holidays.

bulletWe have donated clothing and needed items to Home of the Sparrow, Staben House and the Salvation Army to help women and families recovering from abusive and other difficult situations.

bulletWe donated to Public Action to Deliver shelter (PADS) and many food items to the McHenry county Food Pantry.

bulletWe were able to contribute to the September 11 relief effort.

bulletOur children have gotten involved by making pictures and care packages for U.S. soldiers and performing songs/dances and doing crafts at a local retirement community.

Community Outreach is a significant and rewarding component of our efforts as an organization.  It has always been an opportunity to reflect on how fortunate we all are.
